Instructor Biography
Kathy Lee is the founder and owner of The Pole Project studio in Cape Town, as well as a pole athlete, performer and instructor. The Pole Project is one of South Africa’s largest and most successful pole dance studios.
Kathy used to be a corporate lawyer in London and moved to Cape Town in 2012, before her love for pole dance decided to take over. Her passion for pole has taken her all over the world - she has trained, taught and performed both locally and internationally. She has also competed in several national pole competitions. Since then she has decided to focus on giving back, not only by helping her students to win multiple championship titles, but also organising competitions and shows that would bring the pole community together. Kathy is also the brains behind The Pole Factor competition and the annual theatrical pole production, A Feast of Flight.
Kathy enjoys all types of pole dance, and defines her style as "polymorphous" or "existing in multiplicities". Tricks strengthen her, exotic excites her, and contemporary calms her. Different avenues of pole generate different emotions, but the one constant that exists across all forms in her practice is FLOW. A flow with a foundation in strength, that is constantly mutating and evolving.
